What was your first impression of this movie? For me is had a lasting impact as I was lucky enough to be old enough, and to have parents who were cool enough to let me watch horror films as a young child, to see this one when it was new. So I got to see all the films as they came out. The only bad thing about that was waiting for the next sequel. I still call this one the best in the series... tieing in with CP2, but it was also to this day the darkest and scariest IMHO. I am really interested in hearing the opinions of those who started out with Bride and Seed and backtracked to this movie. I imagine if felt like a much different universe for you younger fans. Please share your experience.

I saw CP2, then CP3, then rented this one the same night when I was like 7.
I agree, this one is the best in my book, tied with CP2. It was really dark, and since I saw it at an age that was similar to Andy's in the film, it was really easy to become immersed into the series. Since I saw that movie when I was a kid, whenever I am in a room with dolls and whatnot, I always give them a second look. I remember always being paranoid that a doll was in a different position than it was when I last looked at it just seconds before. It definitely kept me on my toes whenever I'd hear a bump in the night.

I recall watching this movie when I was very young, and I did not pay attention to the horror or the doll killing people, I fell in love with the dolls look and wanted it in the worse way for either my birth day or for christmas and finally got a few in the last few years.

I don't think I could ever own a Chucky doll. I'd be too freaked out by the thing.

I have a life sized Michael Myers that watches over me at night. Nothing says "GTFO!" to an intruder better than there already being a much worse intruder already occupying the home of the target victim.

I want a life sized replica of the peddler from "Child's Play", with a cart and everything. I would put that in my window and mess with people who walk by my apartment.

I did not see Child's Play until I got it on DVD and it was the bare bones release from 1999 and it was after I had seen CP2,CP3 and Bride on tv. But it left a great impression on me. Ii is a damn good scary film and when Chucky gets burned,he is scary as hell!

Somewhere down in the workshop in the basement of my parents' house, we have a VHS tape that has the first movie recorded on it when it aired on TNT. I remember watching it with my friend once and it was his first exposure to Chucky, and the scene where Chucky is chasing Andy in the apartment, we both cracked up because it looked like Chucky was riding on a skateboard.

Gosh I miss recording movie's when they were on tv onto a vhs, those were the golden day's that is for sure.

No doubt. I need to remember to get my hands on that thing next time I go home, just for the sake of saying I have a Chucky movie from TV taped on VHS. Bet that will fetch me a pretty penny on Pawn Stars.

Pretty sure I still have my copy on VHS that I bought. Might even have CP2 somewhere too. I'll have to have a look later

One of my brothers got me CP2 on VHS for one of my birthdays when I was younger, but my VCR ate it at some point down the road.
