Per themoviescentral.com/movie/52816/Child's-Play-2 Jeffrey Jones, Charles Grodin and Tim Matheson were considered to play Phil Simpson. Veronica Cartwright was considered to play Joanne Simpson. Louise Fletcher, Brad Dourif's former co-star in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, was rumored to be considered for a cameo appearance as Miss Kettlewell. Eugene Levy was going to cameo as the ill-fated Mattson before passing the role to the then-unknown Greg Germann. Mary Steenburgen and Karen Black were considered to play Grace Poole. Steenburgen was unable to fill in the role due to her contributions to Back to the Future Part III (also distributed by Universal Pictures). ___________________ So who would you have liked to see in this movie? I definitely would've preferred some of these actors to the people in the movie. The people in the movie were fine, I'm just a big fan of some of these people. Jeffrey Jones as Phil would've been cool. Veronica Cartwright would've been cool too. So between Veronica and Jenny Agutter, they really wanted an English actress to play this role eh? I wonder why? And between Jones(FERRIS BUELLER) Grodin(BEETHOVEN) and Matheson(ANIMAL HOUSE) and eventually Graham(USED CARS) they really wanted a comedic actor for Phil. Why? Louise Fletcher would've been awesome, she was so good as Nurse Ratched in OFOTCN Eugene Levy would've been awesome. Mary Steenburgen! Of Back to the Future III! Would've been so cool I bet the original CP2 was a lot more dense with character development than the break-neck speed, too fast-spaced, no time to breathe final movie. That clocks in at 80 minutes!

Eugene Levy would have been extremely interesting because I am not familiar with him during the time CP2 was filmed. I am so used to him from the American Pie movies, and some other recent works, so that would have been a fun sight to see.

I think Eugene Levy would have added an element of comedy but in the right way. I could see it working where he's a guy just trying to keep his position at Play Pals yet kind of stumbling along the way.
If you watch the TV version of CP2 Mattson was in fact on his way to see his mistress. He called his wife before hand saying that he had to "work late at the office" Even Chucky had a WTF? look on his face.
I can't see Levy being that Mattson. Lol.

Louise Fletcher would have been amazing to see, she was perfect in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
