This looks like it was right where the alternate ending of child's play 2 ended with his face smiling.During that scene it seemed like there was a higher level in the factory which is where i think this film started at.

I don't know about an upper level, from the scenes in CP2 it doesn't look like they were any.

Somehow his face managed to get into this large vault which looked like it was a different angle or higher spot in the factory.

It's just really, really tall, lol. It's likely the vat in which Andy sprayed Chucky with.

I saw these films as they came out so years had passed for me before seeing that alternate ending scene in CP2.
I can say that they did recreate the factory well for the beginning scene in CP3. Certain things are negotiable because we saw a rsther new, well lit, running factory at night in CP2, Then a old, non functioning, morning light through the windows factory in CP3.
I will say it's good enough. Also the barrel, or vat, is tall and it was cool how when Chucky's remains passed over it in CP3 it looked to be just about in the same spot as CP2.
I did hear otherwise but I always wondered since these two movies were filmed back to back if they got use the same set and dress it up differently to accommodate the 8 years that had passed.

I would hope they could use the same set, it might depend on if they knew they were gonna flim back to back, or when they wrapped up CP2 were like "Meh, lets make another"

I believe Universal forced them to make CP3 and Don started writing it before they were done with CP2.
So they probably didn't have knowledge of that going in, but it is possible that they could have taken advantage of the situation. Of course this all depends on if they filmed the movie chronologically or not too.
Either way... the scene sold it for me so it works.

Yeah, it was definitely very eerie, and Chucky's remains looked pretty damn close to how he was left at the end of CP2. The only thing I noticed if you can see more hair and overalls in his CP3 remains.

I just took that as the latex still being wet and dripping off before it cured.
