What did you guys think of this concept? Should they should have kept it like this or did they do right by keeping him look more consistant in the sequels.
Also a funny side note... I didn't even notice this aspect until many years later. It happenes so slowly in this film that unless if you're really paying attention you just start to think this is how the doll looks. lol.
Very well played on Kevin Yeager's part.

I kind of like it, I mean it's kind of like he's using the Lazurus Pit, and it takes a toll on him each time.

It's a cool concept that I'm glad they did in CP1, but I feel like the main point of it was for an eerie effect where something about the doll is supposed to look off and you're not sure what or why. It might be somewhat redundant if they kept including the gradual appearance change over and over again in each sequel because you'd already know exactly why his appearance is changing and you wouldn't think much of it versus when it was creepy and mysterious when you see the first movie. Plus, I kind of feel like the point of the psychical changes in the first movie were to emphasize the process of the voodoo and the aftermath of Charles Lee Ray becoming a doll. The sequels were less focused on that and more towards just his character/personality alone.
But I gotta say it actually would have been perfect in Curse considering many things within the movie were basically a fresh start of old concepts.

That's a good way to look at it Cold Murder.
It would have been redundant and less effective. Also it would have made some things harder to execute if he was always restricted to both time crunch, and physical changes. From a busniess perspective... to costly to make all those molds. lol.
I have to agree... this would have been awesome in Curse because of that film playing off of a nostalgia factor. Sad to say, and now I can say this openly... I knew way in advance that he was going to be stitched in Curse. I even saw a production still a good month or so before the trailer came out. So I was all kinds of confused, but if I didn't know about the stitches, that trailer would have lead me to believe he was becoming human again.

I loved this. One of my favorite things about the original, wish it had been kept in the sequels. He looked his creepiest ever towards the end of this film.

I found the little bandage he put over his gunshot wound pretty funny.

It felt really cartoony, and like he took the time to put it on.
