Both the horror and comedy aspects give the series a nice twist. However, one of the many benefits of the comedic side are:
#1 Chucky talks more.
#2 We see more of Chucky on screen more instead of in the shadows.
#3 We can go deeper into the character and find out more about Chucky.
That's all I got so far.

I like it to an extent.
I am more or less just a fan of his one-liners, wise cracks. Those help keep things from going too far toward comedy and keep it in the mostly horror realm for me.

The downfall of the comedic side is that it almost separates him from himself. When you see his apartment in the first movie it doesn't look like the apartment of a guy who makes jokes, likes heavy metal, smokes pot, drinks alchohol, and was able to actually have a girlfriend of anykind.
But then we see this side of him and he seems more like a cool guy who happens to be a supernaturally possesed killer doll. lol.
I think in Bride it was a warm welcome because they did have to do something different and it was the right balance. We never got to see him interact with someone he wasn't trying to kill or posses so it was a breath of fresh air.
I don't think they'll stray too far away from some elements of his comedic tone, but unfortunately Seed just went a tad too far.

I like that there is both sides, and they both work, as long as the comedic side does not take over everything...which is kind of what happened in Seed lol

Yeah Gee, both fit well. I would rather horror though.

Yeah, once the comedy side starts dominating, it starts losing my interest a bit.
