Chucky's says he was wearing the heart of Damballa necklace when he was killed in child's play 1 but when you watch it.Theres no way he was wearing a necklace nor does it hint that. It's not an issue to me but I thought I would bring this up.

I think it's one of those things we are supposed to just pretend was real. Of course the more we buy into this concept it makes me believe that he needed that heart the entire time. Unless if he thought he wasn't going to be able to get access to it when he dies initially so that's why he sought out the help of his voodoo mentor.
Shoddy at best but a decent explaination since they decided to throw this curve ball at us fans.

He wasn't wearing it in the original film, it wasn't mentioned until Bride of Chucky. No clue why and still feels unnecessary to me.

This is true. They probably did not even think of bringing the neclace into the series in the first 3 films.

I wouldn't say the first 3 films... but definitely when he went from human to doll.
I always looked at it as he had it on him but retrieving it from his body would haven proven to be too challenging, so he had to figure out a way to get out of the doll without it. This of course led to his time being limited as well as too who he van transfer his soul into.
Once he got the HoD back... all those rules we're null and void.
Now as far as him needing it to transfer into the doll initially... maybe it helped maybe it didn't. Of course he was able to transfer Tiffany's soul into a doll without it so I just try to fit it where it makes sense.
Also, he never did do a successful soul transfer since being a doll so who is to say that it still has to be Andy all this time. Of course Tiffany transfer her and Glen/Glenda into new bodies with it but we still don't know if it would work for Chucky or not.
It didn't help that we didn't see it in Curse because if Tiffany knew of him being alive then wouldn't she be the only candidate for his soul transfer.

I have never thought of that and it seems plausible. Although I would like to think that his mentor wouldn't lie to him when telling him how to get out of the doll.
