This movie caused the real life murder of James Bulger. The killers, who were 10 years old at the time, were said to have imitated a scene in which one of Chucky's victims is splashed with blue paint.

I wouldn't say "cause" but it was definitely a scapegoat. I mean those kids were messed up, murdered a kid, and they found a CP3 tape nearby, so they use that as blame. Now I am not sayong the boys couldn't have been influenced by the movie, because it's possible, but like it's the responsibility of their parents to monitor what they watch and whatnot.

Ya I figured, just can be hard to tell because I assume you're posting from a phone so I figure I'd clarify a bit, lol.
But yeah I recall them burning a bunch of CP3 copies after this happened.

Oh yes, I almost forgot about this.
I have quite a vocal opinion about stuff like this....you can't blame a movie.

Clearly, they should have blamed it on the alcohol.

I believe that sometimes even parents can't help these matters. Jeffery Dahmer's father wrote a book about how he had to face what his son was and he was completely unaware of what he was up to. Don't get me wrong, parents can make matters worse or make a person into this, but it's not always that cut and dry. I do think it helps if parents educate their child like mine did for me as I was able to watch horror and R rated films from early on, but I was always educated.
I think there has be to an inherent lunacy within these children who commit there horrible crimes. Of course the media will jump all over a scapegoat but it's like Chris Rock said "What ever happened to crazy... can't anyone just be crazy anymore" This is true because there was a case in which a 12 year old boy snapped a 6 year old girl's neck on a wooden coffee table. The mother thought she could trust this boy alone with her daughter for a few minutes and when she got back her daughter was dead. Sad. He did this by giving her a pile driver, a common but dangerous wrestling move. Naturally WWE and WCW was being put to blame and they even went as far as sending out subpoenas for some of both WCW and WWE's top talent at the time. When the kid was questioned on the stand "How long have you been a wrestling fan?" the kid replied that he had never watched wrestling. Needless to say none of the wrestlers had to show up and it was pretty much an open and shut case. I am also sure that boy's defense attorney wishes he had spoken to him sooner. lol.
Point is that there are some people who just have that darkness inside them, well we all do, but they lack the logic to not act on it or worse... feed into it where logic becomes void. Where it concerns children commiting these heinous acts of murder, people want something to blame because they can't phathom such evil being present in the form of a child.

I agree with you, there has been a lot of theories set to prove that there is some kind of chemical deficiency in the brain, or some kind of psychological motive that are inherent in some children, and I believe in most of them.
But yeah, it just gets me a little peeved when I see that angry parents and what not are going all over social media screaming "THIS CHILD GOT HOLD OF A KNIFE AND KILLED SOMEBODY BECAUSE OF A MOVIE" when that's kind of an unfair statement. Like sure, I'm positive a lot of the stuff kids watch nowadays doesn't help matters by any means...but not all kids are tempted to kill because they watch horror movies, I truly believe it goes so much deeper than that.
Some people are just very very mentally ill. Like that one case where these two kids took this one kid to an open field and just stabbed him to death, and when media asked "Why would you do that?" the only thing the kids said was "To see how it felt like"...I remember everybody went crazy over that.
Sometimes you just can't help a sick person's mind, but it's sooo important to educate your kids and make sure they know the difference between right and wrong.
