Both are great films, but if I had to choose, I would say CP2.

I like CP2 more, but I gotta say objectively Child's Play is better in tje sense ot set everything up and without it, we have no Chucky.

CP1 is darker and has a bit of a gritty feel to it. However CP2 takes you on a rollercoaster ride that is equivilent to a macabre funhouse. Very hard for me to choose which is better because both a scary but for different reasons.

One big factor is how much screen time Chucky has. I mean CP1 he does about halfway through the movie as just a doll, building up the suspense, toying with the idea that it may be Andy doing this (which was one of the original ideas they considered, but never did). In CP2 he's alive pretty quickly, and it turns from suspense to terror. I like them both in their own regard.

Both are fantastic but for me it's the original, number 1. Scarred me for life that did

Totally CP2. It's my favorite one. Everything is perfect in it, the setting, the characters, the kills, chucky one-liners... I just love it!
