Did anyone else notice this. I know a lot of fans, including myself, have voiced their opinion on how this film was more silly then anything. However, I think this one pushed the envelope in gory kills IMHO.
Not saying previous films weren't gory but we saw a few things we didn't see before.
Tony Gardner getting beheaded was a bit of a shock. NTM how expertly Chucky and Tiffany executed that kill.
John Waters having acid dumped on his face was graphic.
Redman being disembowled wasn't that graphic but I have never seen steaming entrails in cinema before. Plus it made sense since he was just eating. Lol.
Joan vetting fired by Glenda was another graphic scene, especially seeing her corpse after that kills.
It's only natural that they more gory as each sequel gets rolled out because most franchises do. In the past we were used to seeing Chucky get the torture treatment. So despite it's comedic tone Seed was gory for what it was.

Yeah it was a lot more gorier, and I think that's one thing that takes away from tue scary factor for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good gore film, but none of the gore in this one really made me cringe or anything, it was more or less "nice, cool".

It's actually kind of funny, as even though it's considered the silliest in the series, it's also arguably one of the goriest in the series.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good gore film, but none of the gore in this one really made me cringe or anything, it was more or less "nice, cool". I know what you mean. I will go on record to say my favorite horror movie of all time is the original Halloween... and it's sequel was a really nice follow up as well. I find these films to really hit that nerve on what I consider to be scary. It's not so much the kills but the lead up to them. Also just the little things like half his face being visible in a shadowy spot, or knowing he is in the same room with a soon to be victim. It was very effective and hardly any gore. Same goes for Texas Chainsaw Massacre... I actually didn't see this movie until a couple years ago... so this was the one rare instance I saw a remake before the original. I thought for sure it was going to be a total gore fest based on what my mother told me about this film. Now in her day it was gory, but compared to some films I have seen... it's tame. However, it is one of those movies that can make a person feel a little unnerved in that it's very bizarre and macabre in it's approach. Then you have films that are both gory and scary... the original Hellraiser comes to mind. So there are ways to make gore effective, but without the proper set up it's effect can be dismal. BTW... this is where remakes fail... they try making them too gory and it doesn't work. Then the one that is supposed to be gory, "Evil Dead" got too many complaints because of it. I guess lightning doesn't strike twice.
