From FB comments on the Chucky page seems to me that there are two factions on this movie fanbase, who hates it (50%?) and who loves it (50%?), do you have the same feelings? I've ignored general comments (normal haters)...

I like the movie, but I can totally understand why people may not like it.

I'm in the same boat as Metal Matt, and he's my explanation.
It's a Chucky movie, so I'm already interested. One thing a think a lot of people get mixed up when people like me don't like a certain Chucky movie (like Seed), is that I still somewhat like it, just not at much as the others, and RELATIVE to the others, I think it's shit. Cult has kind of the same feeling going for it, but it's just more of a "meh".
It's worth a watch every now and then, but I'm not gonna go out and scream "OMG IT'S THE BEST CHUCKY EVER I <3 CHUCKY <3 <3 <3". It has it's pitfalls, like any other movie in existence, and my fandom allows me to forgive a couple of them, but overall there's quite a bit from my perspective as a fan.
I really bite my tongue on that FB group because then is just devolves into people saying you're "not a real fan" because you don't orgasm at every single thing Chucky, and you don't think every movie is a masterpiece. It's blind fandom, and I don't do that. Not every movie in a series has to be phenomenal. It's hard for a series to go on this long without a couple of stinkers. But overall I'm thankful it's still alive and kicking. I thought it opened up new possibilities, but honestly some of the plotholes/writting seemed lazy.
But I mean I still like it, but I'm not going about screaming praises for it. And I'm also not going to feel victimized when someone doesn't like it (like I noticed someone on the FB group does nearly every other day with Seed). PEople need to accept that there's different opinions, good or bad, on stuff like this, and get the fuck over it. And by "get the fuck over it" I mean don't be that person wqho has to have the last comment before "walking away" when having a discussion on this moving being good or bad. If someone doesn't like it, try to understand why, instead of be disgusted that they don't.
Sorry, rant over, just the posts I see on that page are so god damn toxic sometimes. I swear some people just want attention or something, and can't handle someone not liking what they do then defaulting to "this is a Chucky group hurr durr".

I've watched CULT yesterday, finally on dvd on a big screen I like the movie, but i agree with others that the new installment isn't dark and drastically serious like Curse. I love the twist, but i'm not sure about the ending. I Loved the endind in Curse, but wasn't really perfect. I miss a classic Chucky ending, with blood, doll's body explosion, etc. IMO if the new film had a final like CP2, with Andy's revenge it would have been more cooler.

That's kind of how I felt too.

I like the movie, but I can totally understand why people may not like it. What do you mean exactly? Well, I do think the movie can be a bit too “out there” for some. And I think the movie might be a bit too comedic for some people. Also, the multiple Chucky’s thing can be a bit divisive. But with all that said, I personally think the movie is good, I like it. I don’t think it’s one of the best Chucky movies or anything, but for what it is, I think it has enough good qualities for repeat viewings. But one thing I have to stress is if you like the movie, that’s great. If you don’t like the movie, that’s fine too. I think Cult being divisive is actually kind of a good thing in the sense that it has people talking about the movie, and it leads itself to interesting conversations about it.
