So Don Mancini had this to say about what direction the franchise will take after Cult of Chucky...

“I think that the end of this movie, hopefully, sets up a world of infinite possibilities. That was the intention,” Mancini noted. “David Kirschner and I – he’s been the producer on all of the [Child’s Play] movies – are talking about a new iteration for the franchise. I know that sounds very vague. But that’s all I can say at this point.”

I don't really think that's different then any other movie. I mean we thought it was over after CP3. Chucky comes back from death every time, that's the one constant in the entire franchise.

Chucky could be killed, then cremated, and have his ashes buried at the bottom of the sea, and there can be another movie no problem.
