I am a bit of a perfectionist with my collection.
Yes... the TNG is a better price but in my experience as a passionate fan and collector... you're going to be picking out every flaw on him to a point where you may not enjoy having it and then shelling out the money for the one you want anyway.
I did this with an Optimus Prime figure when Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen came out. Hasbro made one and Takara (Japan market distributor) made one even better.
The Takara version was $90 whilst the Hasbro version was $40. But the Takara version was way more detailed and accurately painted. NTM they weren't stingy on using silver paint on the robot parts where Hasbro... left it in it's natural dull grey plastic. To save money, I bought the Hasbro version and tried painting it myself... which ended up causing damage to the figure. So I bought a second one. Which came out nice... but then I come to find out that the gas tanks on the Takara version transformed into a gun. The Hasbro version did not have this feature so I caved in and bought it finally. In the end I spent $170 to get the Optimus Prime I really wanted to own. Even then... I switched the heads becauseI prefer my Prime to have a mouth plate which that was the only advantage Hasbro's had over Takara's.
Moral of the story is... only you can know if the TNG is going to satisfy that empty space you wish to fill with a Chucky doll.
Personally... I am not a fan of the TNG but that is just me.

It looks pretty decent for the price, but I am biased toward getting something unstitched. Also, this TNG replica looks kind of like Vegeta from DBZ.

Don't waste your money, unless you want to spend loads more modding it to look somewhat like a proper Chucky. Mine is a work in progress and the next step is to send it off to the painter to finish it. Originally started as a TNG, basically took the entire face off except the nose, and started from scratch, replaced the shit hair with some actual hair that can be styled etc. Magnets in his hands etc. Eyes from Tech Optics, made a mouth with acrylic teeth etc.

It looks like you're doing this in some back alley or something lol. Better watch out or the peddler from "Child's Play" will sneak up on you.

Last halloween they told me they were working on an Unstitch version called chucky reborn. I hope so because I will settle for that since sideshow does not have any similar future plans, at least last time I checked with them.

I'll have to look but they showed a prototype of the unstiched and it looks like Vegeta from Dragonball Z.

I wouldn't mind it if it actually looked like a mean Chucky but it doesn't convey that at all.
If these dolls were $100 I could then justify buying one, and I understand that they are limited as too what materials they can get for clothing, but between that and inaccurate sculpts, their upfront price is way too much.
I'd rather save up for a real deal.
I am sure that in time we'll get an accurate 1:1 scale Unstitched Good Guy replica or Unstiched Mean Chucky. The Demand is there. Unfortunately it will bring prices down because the demand will be met, but it will be worth it for some company to make these and pocket some decent coin... like Bandai did when they made the 20th Anniversary Morpher. People were paying rediculous amounts for 1993 Power Morphers, even more for the 1992 Zyuranger Dragon Buckler (Green Ranger's Gold Morpher) as it was the only way to get the Green Ranger's Morpher and coin. Many crafty people sold custom and homemade items on ebay for loads of money.
Well as the 20th Power Rangers anniversary approached they made a new Morpher that was just like the old one but bigger, metal, with diecast coins, and it even had all the Zyuranger deco on the reverse side except it was molded instead of just being a sticker. So it was a piece that all fans could love. Then they even released a Gold Version that came with both the Green and White Rangers coins.
Now sadly... I see these things rotting on the shelves along with the 20th Anniversary Dragon Dagger as most die-hard fans like myself bought these things already, and casual fans might not want to spend the $60 to $80 for these things. I am sure Bandai made their money back and then some, but this is why most companies are afraid to produce a 1:1 scale Good Guy at a high end level, but mass producing a lower end doll could also be risky because of left over stock.
Still, I think one day a company will rise up and deliever goods because the interest is there, and there is a profit to be had in a first wave rush like Bandai saw with the collectables I just mentioned.
