Although Don is working on the next Chucky movie, we can't begin to imagine the release date right now. He's recently been writing for the third series of Hannibal, so you can only imagine something like that (a weekly show that has already been given a date for its premiere) will take up the majority of his writing.
So it looks like Chucky 7 is coming... But not any time soon. Because once the writing is done, then obviously stats the arduous task of filming, editting etc... So I wouldn't be surprised if this was being set up to film next year for a 2017 release date

I have a crazy idea on this. How about he passes the torch and lets someone else take the reigns. He can approve the script... but this is one of the downfalls of having to rely on one soul writer.
This is how they were able to pump out a shit ton of Freddy movies in a short span of time. Each film had a different writer... some were so so... but then some were great.
Of course would Chucky have had the same longevity he has... who knows but I think it'd be more beneficial to work on a new Chucky movie sooner than later. 2017... even being as big of a fan as I am... IDK if I'd be all that interested unless if the film has an entirely new plot.
Then of course there's the possibility of Curse being it. Which I'm okay with... it ended with Andy.

Yeah, I figure "Hannibal" would kind of take priority seeing it's a weekly show with tighter deadlines. I reckon with Chucky 7 he needs to do a lot of stuff before he can even look for studio backing.

Honestly I always knew that it would take time, if it came before 2017 I'd be really surprised

Yeah.
I mean, we don't know whether Universal have given him the go or whether they're awaiting a script before deciding

Yeah, I wish it was coming sooner, to capitalize on the success of Curse, but I'm fine with it being released in 2017. Don shouldn't rush this at all. It makes the movie more of an event and the anticipation will give it some hype.

One thing that would be nice is if companies capitalize on making Curse merchandise to not only give us fans something to buy... but to help keep it alive until another movie comes out.
I know this is highly illogical because the time for this would have been last Halloween season. Which I thought for sure Curse would have built up enough hype to warrant at least a few items.
I guess the main reason I am bringing this up is... fan power. Does Chucky have enough of it to where Universal would feel it worthy come a few years from now to give another film a green light and budget.

I think when you look at the reaction to, and the length of time since Seed, then Universal greenlighting another Chucky wouldn't be unexpected. Curse got very strong reviews and made a shit load more money than they expected. Also, it showed there was still a heavy fan base for Chucky out there after all these years. They'll know they underestimated that with curse

Yeah, considering the fact that Curse did pretty well, and the fact that there clearly is an audience for it, considering I see quite a lot of Chucky merch online and in some stores, Universal would be crazy not to green light it.

IDK... part of me kind of feels like Chucks fan strength decreased. Maybe not "us" fan fans... but the general horror viewing audience. I remember one of my freinds laughing at me when I told him Curse was going straight to DVD.

I'd rather they take their time with putting another movie out instead of rushing it. Even 2017 sounds kind of early to me, Curse still feels new. I don't see what there is to worry about right now, they still gained plenty of interest with Curse, especially considering it wasn't even put in theaters, after the disaster that was Seed.
I don't think just because it might take a little time for another movie to come that suddenly everyone is going to lose interest in Chucky just like that. Waiting a few years for another movie probably isn't going to do any damage. It's proven several times now that time gaps between these movies releases don't really hurt the franchise.

Well that's not too bad. That seems like a good amount of time to "do it right"

I can see it coming out October 2016. Three years after curse seems about right.

I think they should go for Halloween. Or at least the week before Halloween. Just seems like the best time of year to release a horror movie.
