I have to admit... having this film set in a Military school was very smart on Don's part. Not knowing that he would actually be making a movie in 1998 this setting for this film is in 1998.
Of course it came out in 1991 which those seven years did make a difference in that time.
Now for as interesting as seeing Andy in HS having to deal with Chucky, the Military School made for a great generic enough environment to not have to worry about time accuracy. Meaning it can pass off as being 1998. All the teens wore military clothing so we don't have that time association reflected of what teens were wearing in 91 vs 98. Also there was no real soundtrack so we don't have to worry about what was popular at the time.
Granted, I know this is really taking apart the watch more then it needs to be but I like watching movies and having that sense if it being grounded in reality. So with that said... I can buy the events of this film being only a few short weeks before the events of Bride.
Usually franchises do things that makes one question continuity. Like Tommy Jarvis being a fully grown adult in Friday the 13th part 6 and yet somehow it's still the 80's.

Yeah it did pull it off very well. I mean there really wasn't any shortcomings in it that made me doubt it would be 1998. I do agree, it was a pretty smart move to make it able to be set 7 years ahead of time and not have to predict the future in any sense.

There is one thing... Tyler's hand held Atari game... but you can always chalk that up to him being poor or something.
Besides... I don't think there were any other hand helds that were that much more advanced in that time. The hand helds really started taking off to new heights when the N64 and PS would pave the way for advanced gaming.
I think people where still rocking the green screen Game Boys in 1998 although I could be wrong since I wasn't much of a gamer in those days.

What about the Sega Gamegear? I think that was around then and that's kind of what it looked like to me without focusing too much on it. I never really tried to specifically identify what his handheld game system was though, I just left it as "some random game", cuz I know there were plenty of those single, basic handheld games out there that made those typical sounds.

Yeah there was Sega Game gear but I actually remember this Atari game because it was the first I remember seeing in color which even the Game Boy wasn't at the time.
Aside from that... everything else was seamless. Expect for those old ass rifles... but those were old even for 1991 so were still good.
I love the paint rounds being on real bullet shells. Even if that where achievable in real life you could still get killed by the paint being backup by a discharge from a bullet shell of that size. Lol.

Not to mention those are single shot rifles, so Chucky's plan only worked if tyey didn't miss with the first shot.

True... but I think he was happy for any chaos that happened. Still all those bullets... one casualty.
Lt. Col. Brett C. Shelton... absent.
The only thing that sucks about the Military thing is how unrealistic it was. Granted only former or current soldiers like myself would notice these things but I saw a few ranks on uniforms that don't exist and no armory would be storing preloaded weapons of any kind. Even if they did... it would be pre checked by a soldier so Chucky's plan should have failed from the start.
Of course I had read somewhere that fake looking ranks on common in movies so this way an enemy country viewing the movie can't spot real life officers of high rank and what not. But then after seeing "The Last Castle" I guess that debunked that theory as the soldiers' ranks were all accurate in that film. Lol.

Yeah that is one thing that stood out to me in CP3... how easy access the armory was. Even in the early scene with Chucky and Tyler, they were pretty much in the armory.

Another thing that was cool... and timeless... the carnival.
You'd think the movie's climax would have taken place on a battlefield or in the academy since it was a big building and all... nope. Instead it was on a horror ride at a carnival.
Nevermind us thinking it's supposed to be 1998... even now I have never been on a horror ride that looked as nice as the one in CP3. Granted I don't get to go to too many carnivals or fairs but when I do it's usually the same shit repeated over and over again.
I will say that the horror ride at Adventure Land in Long Island NY was the best one I have personally been on.

Yeah that carnival was pretty sweet. It was a pretty like fun, but dark and ominous setting for a climax.

The climax at the carnival is my favorite part of the movie. Especially when Chucky gets half his face sliced off.

Yeah that part kind of made me think like "why would a prop on a ride like that be that fricking sharp?"

My thoughts exactly, lol. Really makes me question the carnival management.

Also how after Chucky killed the security officer, he took the little prostitute gun from the drawer, and not the revolver from his waist.

The purse gun is better scaled to him... probably a lot easier for a little guy like him to carry. Lol.
Which it was weird to see Chucky with a gun for the first time.
