I wouldn't have mind seeing her death scene, however maybe it makes this more violent that we didn't see it.

Either way he must have done it fairly quick because she didn't scream or anything.

The absence of an onscreen death is due to my "Jerk Theory" for the series. 99-100% of the people who die onscreen by the hands of Chucky is a jerk(Phil), or turns into a jerk right before dying(Grace), so we don't feel sorry for them when they die. Which is weird, you'd think we'd want to care about the characters but, whatever Don. Maybe it's to make it less disturbing?
Anyway, seeing a grieving woman get attacked, and get her throat slit, might have been a bit too much. And it's common for a slasher movie to have at least one offscreen death. They can be very effective. All the suspense would've been gone when Kyle went up to investigate. We knew Joanne was definitely dead, but what we didn't know was the "how".
Also, I think she definitely got a glimpse of Chucky. Look at her shocked eyes.

Well yeah she got a glimpse of him, but like as you've noted before, and as I have noted before, his victims don't really have much time to react before dying. Phil probably had the most time, just hanging there. Grace had a second or two herself. The factory worker got slashed right away and fell into the machine.

But what was that beating sound that Kyle heard up in Joanne's room? We can conclude that Joanne's throat was slit, and that maybe she was strangled too? But was what that loud thud?

Could have been anything. Something knocked over, Chucky jumping off of something and landing on the floor, Joanne flailing and hitting stuff, who knows?

Was it even necessary to kill Joanne? Chucky could've held Kyle hostage at knife point outside.

Because he felt like it.

Also to lure Kyle into a confined space. If he tried to grab her hostage outside, she literally has anywhere to run.

I just imagine the loud thud being Joanne falling to her death, it doesn't have to be a gigantic free fall to be loud as hell lol

I feel like the whole car scene with Kyle and Chucky talking should've been taken out or replaced with something else. That's truly the scene where Chucky is open and casual, talking like a normal human character.

What about Whitehurst in CP3?
Not a jerk, death took place on screen, many broken hearts for years to come.
There isn't one day... not one... where Whitehurst hasn't crossed my mind. Especially since CP3 was the first Chucky movie I saw on the Big Screen.
