So I was just thinking, would you like to see a prequel featuring Chucky as his human persona Charles Lee Ray? Sort of like a backstory of sorts. We've heard about a backstory featuring his mom, who was a little person, and him killing that particular character. Would you think his backstory and the events leading up to the first film would make for a good film/short film/web series, etc, or are the first scenes in CP1 and flashbacks in COC enough?

I would really love something like that. showing how he became a killer and why, I was always curious about his life and would love to know more about him.

I would like that as well. My only issue is that for me personally, Curse seemed to kind of put a damper on CLR's backstory. It made him look kind of like a creeper as opposed to a sadistic serial killer.

Agreed, I find Charles Lee Ray too whiny in Curse
But the idea of making a prequel film is a good one, see what really made him tick

He seemed like a stalker to me in Curse. Which make sense. Look who's stalking!!!

Part of me wants to think that his situation with Sara in Curse was a one off type of thing. Like maybe he over enduldged in some ideal he had and felt towards her but once he knew it wasn't going to go anywhere... Bam. The Madman returns.

It just made me feel like he was a bumbling loser who stole women's underwear and smelled them in his mother's basement.

He seemed to take a shine to her, focused his efforts then found her rejection too much and flipped, reverting to type. I'd like to see his back story haired, but get the feeling it would be better done as a series. Maybe a 3 parter, hour long episodes. Or failing that a series of 10(ish) webisodes

I wouldn't want it, personally. I'm not a fan of the way it's become so common to give killers a sympathetic background to feel for them. Some people are killers just because and I think that's scarier than anything. I was fine with what we got of human Chucky in the first movie, we know that he's a bad guy who kills people and that was enough for me.
If they could do a good job with it though, I wouldn't mind it. I just don't think they would, considering what they did in Curse... I really did NOT like that, and agree that it made him look like some kind of loser creep. It was all so out of character and just.. ugh.

I agree... when they reveal too much of the monster it really take away the fear factor they have. This is why I say original Michael Myers > Rob Zombie Michael Myers.
Only time it worked we l enough for me was Freddy... because there wasn't a sob story behind his character, and Pinhead because it was neat to know that he was a regular man once before he open the Lament Configuration.
Still... Curse was only a small piece so he can still recover his image. Again... I think it was a one off thing. Maybe Sarah reminded him of one rare humble memory, but the killer instinct was too strong.

I hope a prequel happens while Brad Dourif is still around. Even though the less we know the scarier it is,sooner or later the origin must be told and I am sure if a prequel happens,Don will do a good job.

I'd like to see how that would have worked too. I know some people say Tiffany would be the type of girl to just let what he was doing with Sara slide, but I don't agree. She seems to be very dedicated to her love for Chucky in Bride but she doesn't always take his crap, like her reaction to the ring she found not being for her and how angry she got just over his dishes comment. I don't see her being the type of woman to share.
