So as some of you may know, there are novel versions for "Child's Play 2" and "Child's Play 3", of which I own both, and they were made after their respective movies. I have read the CP2 novel, and I figure I'd note some of the differences that I remember.
That's all I can remember for now, I'll make sure I update this thread if I remember anymore. If I missed something, feel free to post it.
- Chucky starts realizing he is becoming human again much sooner in the novel, as during the scene in which Mattison tries to shove him into the trunk and slam it shut, Chucky's hand is "crushed". He notices some slippery ooze-like substance coming from his hand, and that's when he realizes her is becoming human for the first time in this installment, as opposed to the movie when he gets thrown down the stairs. It never really references his hand as the novel continues, so I assume it just kind of healed or wasn't that noticeable.
- The novel includes the deleted scene (often seen on the TV version when they played it on USA) where Mattison is making calls in his car. In the movie cut, it only shows him calling his wife. The television version has him calling both his wife, then his mistress. The novel contains both phone calls as well.
- There's some backstory regarding Charles Lee Ray in the novel. Sorry Tiffany fans, no mention of her. It does mention Eddie Caputo briefly. The biggest aspect of his backstory memories is that his father is non-existence, and his mom is a "little person", which she despises her son Charles for being a "normal". She is also a drunk and would neglect and abuse him, and she was Chucky's first kill, in which he strangles her (the start of "The Lakeshore Strangler") and puts her in a garbage bag and buried her in the park during a rainy night.
- There's a little more development on Andy's foster-father, Phil Simpson, but overall he is still kind of a grumpy guy like in the movie. The novel just kind of adds to his "firm, but fair" appearance.
- In the scene where Chucky smashes Tommy's face in, the novel has a little bit before that scene. It pretty much just consists of Kyle coming down, painting her nails, and watching TV. Chucky has some thoughts about attacking her, as he is hiding, but doesn't. Eventually Phil comes down to tell her to go to bed.
