Hey everybody, I was just lurking around Facebook when I saw a link to an article "Don Mancini Talks Chucky 7" or something like that, I click on it thinking it was gonna be old news because that pretty well was all that was ever going around but then I saw this picture.... ![](http://s17.postimg.org/dt7cgeksr/image.jpg) now I doubt we'll have a South African Chucky movie but still, at least Mancini is putting some thought into it, or maybe we will have something taking place in Cape Town...Sees was filmed in some random European country after all. Any thoughts??

Yeah I figure if they did that it would be for filming purposes only and not location. Though it'd be interesting to see how Nica ends up in South Africa.

It'd be interesting if they filmed there. Seed was filmed in Romania, so I could see them filming in South Africa. I doubt the actual film would take place in South Africa, but who knows. Maybe the asylum that Nica goes to is in South Africa? Or maybe it still takes place in whatever area Curse took place but the filming location is in South Africa?

My two biggest hopes for this is that it doesn't take place in that 6 month time span and that we get a better looking puppet this time around.
I won't have high expectations as this movie doesn't have the same power Curse had which was the time to devolpe thurst for another Chucky movie.
They really have to go a little more out on this one to wow this long time fan.
Hopefully they have a better budget to work with this time.

Yeah, considering that Curse apparently did better than what Universal was expecting, I wouldn't be surprised if it got a bigger budget. As far as how much money, I guess that'd depend on whether it stays DTV like Curse, or it goes back to theaters.
Also, bit of a side note, but it seems like we might be getting closer and closer to this being a reality. Don tweeted out earlier today that Chucky 7 (or at least some news about it) would be coming "soon" and Fiona has also joined the fray as well, so it looks like we may learn some more news (maybe even some kind of official announcement) about the next Chucky movie sooner rather than later.

I highly doubt we will see a South African setting.
As Metal Matt pointed out, SEED was shot primarily in Romania, yet that wasn't the setting for the movie.
Not as many movies are shot in the USA nowadays due to budgeting constraints. Crew and equipment are much cheaper and, from what I understand, efficient in other parts of the world these days.

That is true, there is a big fuss in the United States regarding this topic. IT varies state to state though. They tax the shit out of you in certain states so they never film there, and other states will lower or get rid of the tax to lure filming because the theory is they will make up whatever they miss out in taxes via lodging, catering, etc. I don't think either option has worked well for whatever reasons.

Yeah I figured the location was purely due to costs as will be cheaper to film there.
I remember they filmed scenes for the first Captain America near where I live - Manchester in England.

Very rare for films to be made on location. Like the first Spider-Man movie being filmed in CA when based upon NY.
Actually quite amazing that The Walking Dead is filmed on location.
I am sure that where ever they film it we can bet it won't be set in that place. Unless if it's part of the story line that Nica is released from the hospital and goes on a vacation to get away from it all.
Speaking of which... was it ever disclosed as to what location Curse was supposed to take place?

If I remember correctly Nica lived in a place called Highgate in the state of Rhode Island

Which makes me wonder on some of the settings for the films.
The first two took place in Chicago.
Third was at Kent, which really wasn't disclosed where exactly it is if I am not mistaken.
I'm not sure exactly where Bride started, but it ended in Hackensack, New Jersey. Part took place at Niagara Falls..
Seed took place mostly in LA.
Now Nica and her mom live in Rhode Island, but they must not have always lived there, since the flashback scene mostly implies that it took place on the same night as the opening of CP1.

I always assumed the Pirce family relocated following the kidnap ordeal and Nica's birth, as a way of putting the past behind them.
Also, Bride started in Lockport which is in New York if I'm not mistaken. They ended up going to Hackensack via Niagara Falls. My geography of the USA/Canada isn't brilliant so whether this is a legitimate route or not I have no idea

If I remember correctly, I remember reading that the military school they filmed at in CP3 was in Missouri. Not sure if it actually takes place there or if it's was shot there, but it's a possibility, I guess.

I feel I have to clarify that I don't actually think we're gonna get an African Chucky movie, nor do I want one by any means lol.
I can imagine that South Africa would be a hell of a lot cheaper to film in over most states, it wouldn't surprise me if they decide to film it in Canada again like Bride and Curse were.
I agree with Dragon Prime though, if the movie doesn't take place at least soon after Curse, it's gonna kind of lose some wow factor for me.
Part of me hopes for a theater release when this damn thing is finally done though, many critics believe that Curse actually lost money because of releasing it as a direct to video, because as Matt said, it did better than a lot of people thought. Would be nice to experience a Chucky film on the big screen, since I was too young to see Bride or Seed.
I'm noticing that rumours and whatnot about Chucky 7 have picked up a lot more in the last little bit

Oh yeah, I don't think it'll be filmed in or take place in Africa, it seemed more like just Don and Jennifer joking around since Jennifer happened to be in Africa at the time of the tweet, lol.
But yeah, I could see it back in theaters, or if it stays on DTV, having a slightly larger budget than Curse. I'd love to see a Chucky film on the big screen for the first time. But I'm also fine with it staying on DTV.
And yeah, rumors have picked up lately, considering that Don said that Chucky 7 stuff was coming soon, so hopefully an official announcement will be coming soon.
