Chicago Or Hackensack?

So, as some of us may know, the first few films in the series took place in Chicago. However, later on in the series, (particularly Bride and Seed) this was apparently retconned, as Chucky (and Tiffany) were now from Hackensack, New Jersey. Chucky's corpse was buried in Hackensack, and in Seed, Chucky explicitly states that he and Tiffany are from New Jersey as evidenced by the line, "We're from Jersey.". This has created a little bit of confusion in my eyes. If Chucky was from Chicago, why would they bury his corpse all the way in New Jersey? Perhaps he used Chicago as something of a hideout? Who knows? What are your theories? What city do you think is Chucky's true place of residence?

I don't think anything is retconned, lol. He was probably born in Hackensack, grew up there, maybe there's family there. He likely then moved on to Chicago where he did most of his dirty work.

He was from Jersey and perhaps Tiffany was too. Or he said "We're from Jersey" but really he could have meant it in jest, could have been referring to himself and Glen, or the last place their bodies died... or any number of reasons. We also have to take into account that things were thrown in for humor sake whilst ignoring mythology.

Anyway... of we take everything into account I will say that he is from Jersey but was living in Chicago when he was killed. Also Curse confirmed it being Chicago. Maybe Chucky was a die hard CM Punk fan and had to live there.

Pretty much and how old was he at the beginning of the original? He could have had 30 years in Jersey before going to Chicago. His original warrant could have been from Jersey, so for whatever reason they might demand his body be returned there.

His family maybe wanted his body to be close to the rest of the dead and buried member.

Mike Norris was a class act. He could have shot Chucky in the face but he didn't so this way his mother could have an open casket funeral.

After Mike Norris pisses on his face he goes outside for a cigarette. Whilst no one's watching... Eddie Caputo takes a piss on CLR's face and says "take that you bossy piece of shit. Btw... I fucked Sarah whilst you out buying groceries"

Then the peddler walks in and pisses on CLR's face. Then he notices the Good Guy looking at him and says "Hot shit. I bet I get get anywhere between $30 to $50 for that. Score"

I always took it as maybe Chucky grew up in Hackensack and just moved on to Chicago, which would make sense considering a lot of the time people get buried the place they were born and bred.

Pretty much, you latest fanfic entry bridged this perfectly and filled any potential gap that this question may create, for me at least.

So it looks like the most common theory is that Chucky was born and raised in Hackensack, and then moved to Chicago later in his life. That would make sense to me, now that I think about it. Chicago would be an interesting place for Chucky to move to.
